Why is it important to join the Center?
  • 31% of all women killed in the U.S. are murdered by their husbands, ex-husbands, or boyfriends.
  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men are raped at some time in her or his life. 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before reaching the age of 16. At least 80% of sexual assault victims know their assailant as acquaintance, friend, or a family member.
  • Sexual abuse in the therapist-client relationship occurs at a rate of 5.5%. Sexual abuse in the minister-parishioner relationship accurs at a rate higher that 12.7.

JOIN the CENTER and be part of this international effort to end sexual and domestic violence in the lives of children, women, and men. Here's what your support will do:

Train, educate and mobilize religious leaders and teachers, congregations and communities across the U.S. and the world for active involvement in the prevention of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Help communities to break the silence about these issues.

Assist religious leaders and teachers in providing spiritual and material support for vicitms; calling offenders to account; and teaching violence prevention in all areas of religious life.

Provide educational resources on child abuse, domestic violence prevention, prevention of violence in teen-dating and the healing process for surviviors of domestic violence.

Provide educational resources on the sexual abuse and exploitation of women and children in Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Provide educational resources to address and prevent sexual abuse and domestic violence in North American Jewish communities, as part of the Center's Jewish Community Education Project.

Provide educational resources on the issue of domestic violence as it impacts African American communities, in conjunction with the Center's Black Church and Domestic Violence Project.
